Actresses Jacqueline Fernandez and Violante Placido will receive the “Women Excellence Award – In the Name of Lina Wertmuller”. This is the 18th edition of the Los Angeles Italia – Film, Fashion, and Art Festival, (March 5 to 11, 2023). It is promoted by the Italian Ministry of Culture, Dg Cinema, and Intesa Sanpaolo. An event that has always enjoyed the participation and support of the legendary Italian director Lina Wertmuller.
The two actresses will be feted on Monday, March 6, at TCL Chinese Theatre at the end of the special screening of the film “Tell It Like A Woman,” nominated to the Oscars with the song “Applause,” written by Diana Warren and starring Sofia Carson. They will be acknowledged together with filmmakers Catherine Hardwicke and Maria Sole Tognazzi.
Former model and beauty queen Miss Sri Lanka 2006, Jacqueline Fernandez is one of the leads of the all-female, seven-episode movie “Tell It Like A Woman,”. It was produced by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi for Ilbe, and in collaboration with Chiara Tilesi’s “We Do It Together.” A true superstar of the Bollywood musicals, in 2010 Fernandez received an IIFA award and a Stardust Award for Star Debut of the Year, for her role in the fantasy drama “Aladin.”
Violante Placido is back in Hollywood after being acclaimed alongside George Clooney in the movie “L’Americano,” shot in L’Aquila in 2010. Moreover, Nicholas Cage in “Ghost Rider” (2012) and the series “The Transporter” (2014).
