La Prima Cosa Bella (The First Beautiful Thing) has been selected as Italy’s official candidate for the Best Foreign Film Oscar® in the 2011 Academy Awards.

 An engaging and emotionally affecting family drama about a professor who returns home to take care of his ailing mother, The First Beautiful Thing was directed by 46-year-old director Paolo Virzi.
