ENRICO MATTEI. THE MAN WHO LOOKED TO THE FUTURE" TO OPEN LOS ANGELES, ITALIA 2010. ON SUNDAY FEB 28 3:30pm MANN CHINESE 6 THEATER LOS ANGELES, CA - 02/05/10 - The epic movie about the great dream of Enrico Mattei to change the history of Italy will officialy kick-off the 5th Annual Los Angeles, Italia - Film Fashion and Art Fest to be held in Hollywood from Sunday Feb 28 to Saturday March 6. "Enrico Mattei. The Man Who Looked to the Future" by Giorgio Capitani produced by Lux Vide and Rai Fiction in assiciation with Eni Spa is distributed world-wide by Rai Trade. The movie tells about the story of the first Italian man, in the post-war period, to believe his country could play a key rule in world affairs, and that belief cost him his life. After WWII, Enrico Mattei is appointed Head of the National Oil Company (first Agip and then Eni) and become a key player in the Italia Economic miracle. He is the first to seek out direct contacts with the Middle East, thus breaking the long-established oil monopoly of the “Seven Sisters” which they cannot accept. Mattei is now an international problem. With the unwavering support of his wife Greta, who dreamed his own dreams, Mattei decides to make even more radical decisions: to stand by Algeria’s war of liberation; to challenge the power of the Mafia in Sicily. However the threats he has been receiving become tragically real and Mattei dies in October, 27, 1962, when his plain explodes on his way to an important meeting in Milan.
