SURPRISE APPEARANCE OF SOFIA LOREN ON THE STAGE OF THE OSCAR® NIGHT. TRIUMPHAL CLOSING OF THE ITALIAN CINEMA WEEK IN HOLLYWOOD LOS ANGELES, 23/02/09 – Legendary Italian actress Sofia Loren, after her appearance at the Kodak Theater for the Oscar Night, has formally closed the event of Italian cinema in Hollywood “Los Angeles, Italia – Film Fashion and Art Fest” that opened Sunday 15th February, with the screening of the documentary that Vincenzo Mollica dedicated to her entitled “Lazzaro, Scicolone, Loren”. The organizers of the event have been extremely proud and honored for the presence of the great Italian star; during the week of the Italian extravaganza, more than 15,000 people attended the different events including the screening of 54 films including great masterpieces of the past and contemporary films. Several great artists have attended or introduced screenings and events, including Pupi Avati, Christian and Brando De Sica, Franco Nero, Adriano Giannini, Marco Pontecorvo, Maria Sole Tognazzi, Pappi Corsicato, Carlo Carlei, Marco de Luca, Giulio Base, Zeudi Araya and Massimo Spano together with musicians Andrea Griminelli, Andrea Morricone, Tony Esposito and Guido Lembo as well as the fashion designer Rocco Barocco. A crowd of America stars gathered at the Chinese Theatre to pay tribute to Italian cinema, including Dennis Hopper, Mickey Rourke, Peter Fonda, Gina Gershon, Christian Slater, Malin Akerman, Joe Mantegna, Heather Graham, Tony Musante, Rodrigo Santoro, the Oscar-winners Paul Haggis, Bobby Moresco and Stevenn Zaillian and also Valentino Garavani, Diane Fustemberg, Michael Bublè and David Foster. Producers Mark Canton, Avi Lerner, Michael Burns, Ryan Kavanaugh, Mike Nozik and Harvey Weinstein also joined the event.
