PA-RA-DA: NO TO THE AMERICAN REMAKE. AFTER BEING ACCLAIMED AT L.A. ITALIA 2009 MARCO PONTECORVO’S WILL BE STUDIED AT U.S.C.
LOS ANGELES, 2/22/09 - 'Pa-ra-da' by Marco Pontecorvo has conquered Hollywood even though
there will not be an American remake of the real story of the clown Miloud and the
kids of Bucharest sewages. After being acclaimed at Los Angeles Italia, the oldest
university of cinema, the prestigious University of Southern California, - also a partner
of the Italian festival produced by Pascal Vicedomini, - will screen his film
with a lesson of Leonard Maltin, one of the greatest American film critics, and author of cult guides.
' Los Angeles,Italia” has become a kind of bridge between our Country and the States”
declared Pontecorvo, who in addition to be a director, is also a very talented and
successful director of photography. “The Americans have already proposed me
a remake of the film but I don’t want to make the same film again; furthermore,
I think that with a remake, we would risk losing the very spirit of the original film.
On the other hand, I’m extremely thrilled about the great opportunity offered by
Los Angeles Italia and the University of Southern California. This event will certainly
have an echo on the American market that could open the way to “Pa-ra-da” in the US”
