CHRISTIAN DE SICA ATTENDING L.A. ITALIA CELEBRATING HIS LEGENDARY DAD VITTORIO. TODAY THE SPECIAL SCREENINGS OF HIS FATHER'S MASTERPIECE THE BICLYCLE THIEF AND OF TALK ABOUT ME BY HIS SON BRANDO LOS ANGELES, 16/2/08 – Christian De Sica opened the 4° Los Angeles, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Fest to be held at the Chinese Theatre until Sunday 22nd, the night of the Oscar Awarding ceremony. The popular showman inaugurated the Italian extravaganza, produced by Pascal Vicedomini, introducing the docu-film with Sofia Loren and directed by Vincenzo Mollica “Scicolone, Lazzaro, Loren”, followed by the special screening of the film “La Baia di Napoli” by Melville Shavelson (1960) starring the legendary Italian actress and two myths of international cinema: Vittorio De Sica e Clark Gable. The opening day of Los Angeles, Italia also included the screening of two masterpieces by Gillo Pontecorvo: the Academy Award-nominated feature film “Kapò” and the docu-film made for Eni in 1984 as well as a tribute to Federico Fellini with Dennis Hopper presenting two films directed by the great Master: “Roma” and “Satyricon”. After the screening, the flautist Andrea Griminelli honored Fellini with a concert with the music by Nino Rota. The highlight of this first day has been the awarding of the Lifetime Achievement prize to Pupi Avati by the Italian Institute of Culture followed by the screening of his latest film, “Giovanna’s Father”. Los Angeles, Italia 2009 is promoted with the support of the Ministry of Cultural and Artistic Heritage (Cinema Department) Eni, Campania and Lazio Regions, in association with CIM Group Retail, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Casinò di Venezia.
