DENNIS HOPPER PAYS TRIBUTE TO FEDERICO FELLINI IN HOLLYWOOD. SUNDAY FEBRUARY 15th AT THE OPENING OF THE L.A. ITALIA FESTIVAL LOS ANGELES, 13/02/09 - Dennis Hopper will be the host of Los Angeles, Italia Festival, to be held at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood from February 15th to 22nd. The legendary American actor will attend the opening ceremony of the 4°– Film, Fashion and Art Fest, produced by Pascal Vicedomini, to honor his “myth”, Federico Fellini to whom this edition is dedicated. Hopper’s passion for the great “master” from Emilia Romagna is attested by his participation to any event where “Fellini is brought to the forefront as he deserves. He is the ultimate genius of filmmaking” declares the American artist. Los Angeles Italia 2009 is produced with the support of the Ministry of Cultural and Artistic Heritage, (Cinema Department) Eni, Lazio and Campania regions. After introducing the screening of Fellini’s “Satirycon” Dennis Hopper will attend the concert dedicated to Fellini (music by Nino Rota) performing Andrea Griminelli (accompanied by the pianist Irene Veneziano), followed by the screening of Pupi Avati’s (Chairman of the Federico Fellini Foundation), latest stint “Giovanna’s father” On that occasion, Avati will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Italian Institute of Culture. The event, that is scheduled in the eve of the Academy Awards, will also include a tribute to the De Sica Dinasty (Vittorio, Christian and Brando), to Gillo Pontecorvo and Ugo Tognazzi (with their sons Marco Pontecorvo and Maria Sole Tognazzi attending the event) and to producer Franco Cristaldi (with wife Zeudi Araya Cristaldi and film director Massimo Spano). LA-Italia will also include 50 film screenings (with premiers and retrospectives), 2 photographic exhibitions by the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, and an exhibition of the dresses by Rocco Barocco. Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta will be the host and the testimonial of the event, so much so that in these days, her image, together with the ones of Sorrento Gulf and the Forum in Rome, is looming on Hollywood from the big billboards. rsvp@losangelesitalia.com
