LINDSAY LOHAN AND JOAN COLLINS WELCOME THE LOS ANGELES, ITALIA 2008 GRAND OPENING NIGHT. BERNARDO BERTOLUCCI POSTPONES HOLLYWOOD CELEBRATION
LOS ANGELES, CA 18/02/08 – Famous actress Lindsay Lohan and legendary icon Joan Collins have officially welcome the Italian delegation to the grand opening of the “Los Angeles, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Fest”.
The festival, promoted by the Capri in the World Institute with the support of the Director General - Cinema of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Assessorship to Tourism for the Campania Region, and the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Eni, the General Consulate and the Institute of Culture of Los Angeles, officially opened with first and only documentary, “La via del petrolio” (The Oil Route) shot in 1962 for Eni’s then President Enrico Mattei (documenting the “journey” of oil from Iranian wells to refineries in Germany).
The screening was followed by the American premiere of Federico Moccia’s film “Scusa ma tu chiamo amore”, attended by the author and the movie’s protagonist, Raoul Bova.
Among the celebrities who attended the opening event at the 3rd Los Angeles, Italia were Oscar winner Bobby Moresco, Steven Zaillian, F. Murray Abraham together with producers Mark Canton, Lawrence Bender and Barry Navidi, actress Sofia Vergara and also Jason Weinberg, Jack Gilardi, Keisha Whitaker; the Italian artists’ delegation headed by Franco Nero, Citto Maselli, Lina Sastri, Luois Nero, Enrico Loverso, Stefano Calvagna, Brunella De Nardo, Maurizio Aiello, Francesco Apolloni and songwriter Ron, who performed after the introduction by Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Leron Gubler.
But the real issue of the day was Bernardo Bertolucci’s message that he had to postpone his trip to Hollywood for the dedication of his star on the Walk of Fame. In a letter to Pascal Vicedomini, the producer of the “Los Angeles, Italia” festival, Bertolucci, the legendary director, explained his urgent decision to travel instead to Switzerland, citing a health problem. He admitted he is “extremely disappointed to be forced to temporarily abandon the trip to Los Angeles. “Would you please,” he wrote, “explain the reason to my American friends, who committed themselves so passionately to this acknowledgement. I am totally aware” Bertolucci continued “that through your excellent relationships with Hollywood, you have achieved a rare and true success, and I congratulate myself with you. This star would have cheered me up in this very gloomy time of my life, it’s very rare and highly coveted. I imagine some Texas oil tycoons would be willing to pay dearly to get one.”
