ENNIO MORRICONE SEDUCES HOLLYWOOD AND ANNOUNCES THE “CONCERT FOR PEACE” IN VENICE ON SEPTEMBER 10 LOS ANGELES, 2/23/07 – Ennio Morricone’s “star” shines brightly in Hollywood as the Maestro arrives at the “Los Angeles, Italia – Film, Fashion and Art Fest,” which honored him Thursday night at the Chinese Theatre, in anticipation of the Academy Awards. It was 8 pm when Morricone, accompanied by his wife Maria and sons Andrea and Giovanni, arrived in Hollywood to take part in the gala evening promoted with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Venice Casino, and Fiuggi mineral water, with the patronage of the Campania and Lazio regions of Italy. Morricone stole the scene right away as the audience applauded non stop while he made his way to the stage. Just a few seconds later, with about five hundred spectators giving him a standing ovation, Italian-American director Bobby Moresco, Marina Cicogna, Tony Renis, and Italian Cultural Institute of Los Angeles Director Francesca Valente gave Morricone a special award for his career, the first of many honors that the Maestro will receive in this trip across the ocean, beginning with the coveted Oscar. Visibly moved, Morricone was accompanied onstage by his son Giovanni (who acted as interpreter) and expressed his joy and gratitude for the Murano glass bottle that was bestowed upon him. Then, he and Roberta Morelli, member of the Venice Casino Board of Directors announced a major concert in Piazza San Marco on Monday, September 10: the Concert for Peace, which will take place at the conclusion of the Venice Film Festival.
