FOREST WHITAKER AND HELEN MIRREN: FROM THE CAPRI AWARD TO THE OSCARS. THE WARMTH OF AN ITALIAN ISLAND BRINGS GOOD LUCK TO INTERNATIONAL STARS

LOS ANGELES, Feb 26, 2007 – Actors Forest Whitaker (honored on December 30 in Capri with the 2006 Legend Award, together with Maestro Mario Monicelli) and Helen Mirren (who triumphed on the Blue Island in 2005 with Pupi Avati) won the coveted Academy Award.
The two stars who won awards in the last two editions of Capri, Hollywood dominated the scene on the magical night of Los Angeles.
“The Capri in the World Institute is proud of its friends’ success and warmly congratulates these two extraordinary personalities who are not only gifted with enormous talent but above all immense humanity” declares Pascal Vicedomini, founder and producer of the “little” Italian festival most loved by the world star system.
Promoted by the Capri in the World Institute with the support of the European Union, (through the Campania Regional Ministry for Tourism), the Film Board of the Ministry of Culture, and Cinecittà Holding, “Capri, Hollywood 2006” developed from the Fiuggi Awards and featured 70 screenings (including the “Premiere Kimbo,” the series of the best films of 2006, produced with the Venice Casino).
Among the personalities who participated in the events: Ken Loach, cartoonist Frank Miller (father of Sin City and 300), Bobby Moresco, Mike Figgis, Terry Gilliam, John Irvin, Mimmo Calopresti, Fausto Brizzi, Marleen Morris, Giorgio Pasotti, Rinko Kikuchi, Adam Beach, Ornella Muti, Terry Gilliam, Claudia Gerini, Toby Jones, Kristoph Zanussi, Roberto Andò, Federico Zampaglione, Nicolas Vaporidis, Martina Stella, Adriano Giannini, Zucchero, and many others.
