MONICELLI’S COMEDY TO INAUGURATE THE ITALIAN FILM, FASHION AND ART FESTIVAL AT START OF OSCAR® WEEK IN HOLLYWOOD
LOS ANGELES, January 21, 2007 – The comedy of Mario Monicelli still enchants Hollywood. As the Oscar® season moves toward its climax on Sunday, February 25, Monicelli’s classic “Big Deal on Madonna Street” will have a special screening at the Chinese Theatre on Sunday, February 18 – 3pm - to inaugurate a weeklong event, “Los Angeles, Italy – Film, Fashion & Art Fest.” Invitations for the afternoon at Mann Chinese 6 Theaters and evening at Hollywood & Highland Center are much in demand from the CIM Group-USA’s public relation office, which is coproducing the with Capri in the World Institute. Italy’s Ministry of Cultural Assets, Casinò of Venice, Fiuggi Mineral Water, Tiesse Holding, Cinecittà Holding, and U.S.C. are principal collaborators.
The festival also will feature the Los Angeles preview of “I Only Wanted to Live” by Mimmo Calopresti produced by the Steven Spielberg Shoah Foundation, and an inaugural exhibition at the Highland Art Gallery of dresses from the “MarieAntoinette” collection by Milena Canonero. Also on display will be a photographic collection, presented by the Center for Experiments in Cinematography (from the Cinecittà Holding group).
”Mario Monicelli’s movie are a treasure of world-wide culture and will always attract deep analysis of his artistic talent,” said Academy Award®-winner writer Bobby Moresco, “Chairman” of the event, adding that the director and his talent represent the Italian genius that seduces the viewer with its combination of classic tradition and innovation. “This is the spirit with which we have launched “Los Angeles, Italy,” said Moresco.

Huge street posters of Venice’s canal are promoting the new Italian festival in the heart of Hollywood. The Oscar® week event also will include honors for Ennio Morricone, the legendary music composer whose going to receive the Lifetime Achievment Award after being previously nominated 5 times.
