THE ITALIAN CINEMA CONQUERS LOS ANGELES AND HER ITALIAN-AMERICAN “COUSINS”. CLOSING MARCH 4 'THE ITALIAN FILM, FASHION AND FOOD FEST' WILL MARTIN SCORSESE'S HOMAGE TO THE ITALIAN CINEMA
LOS ANGELES, ITALIA 03/03/06 – A festival with thirty films (including 7 American premieres, a tribute to Martin Scorsese, a retrospective on the work of Lina wertmuller, and the world premiere of ‘Fire on Ice’ by Umberto Marino, starring Raoul Bova, the participation of Oscar winning costume designer Gabriella Pescucci, as well as legendary stylist Valentino and movie celebritiese such as Jon Voight, Jacqueline Bisset, Dolph Lundgren, Gerard Butler, Rosanna Arquette, producers Lawrence Bender, Tom Sternberg, Larry Turman, Barri Navidi plus Italians nominees Cristina Comencini and Dario Marianelli, together with Gabriele Muccino, Franco Nero, Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Stefania Rocca, Enrico Lo Verso,” meetings with Italian artists and the students of Univeristy Souther California, meetings with the public as arranged by the the Italian Institute of Culture in L.A. and the Italian Film Commission, a press conference with the representatives of the Cim Group, Italian Ministry of Culture and Rai Trade at the Mann Chinese Theater, meetings with influential individuals from the film industry (chaired by Marina Cicogna and Tony Renis, co-chairman of the festival), a reception at the Italian Consulate, and a gala to benefit NIAF featuring many Italian-American artists: all of this is ‘Los Angeles, Italia – The Italian Film, Fashion and Food Fest,” to be closed on Saturady March 4th with the special screening of the Martin Scorsese's tribute to the the neorealisms Italian Maestros.
This year marks the first edition of the Italian cultural event in the capital of the Showbiz, as produced by the Capri in the World Institute in collaboration with Cim Group Inc., the Lazio Region of Italy and Rai Trade, in concurrence with the Oscar week .
The festival is considered a new classic of the winter calendar for the American city, with the participation of many other Italian artists alongside many of their Italian-American colleagues (Ernest Borgnine, Gary Sinise, Joe Mantegna and Antonio Sabato Jr.)
Of particular interest to the American public has been the latest film by Pupi Avati “The second wedding night" and "The Fine Art of Love" by John Irvin (starring Jacqueline Bisset and Enrico Loverso) produced by the Italian Titania Film.
