FELLINI’S MAGIC TO INAUGURATE ITALIAN GALA AT START OF OSCAR® WEEK IN HOLLYWOOD

Los Angeles, February 19, 2006 – The magic of Federico Fellini still enchants Hollywood. As the Oscar® season moves toward its climax on Sunday, March 5, Fellini’s classic Casanova will have a special screening at the Chinese Theatre on Sunday, February 26, to inaugurate a weeklong event, "Los Angeles, Italy – Film, Fashion & Food Fest." Invitations for the evening at Hollywood & Highland Center are much in demand from the leading public relations agency, Rogers & Cowan, which is assisting the producers of the event, CIM Group-USA and Capri in the World Institute. Italy’s Lazio Region and RAI Trade are principal collaborators.

The festival also will feature the worldwide preview of La Fiamma sul Ghiaccio with Raoul Bova, and an inaugural exhibition at the Highland Art Gallery of dresses and gowns from the legendary designers Valentino and Gabriella Pescucci. Valentino designed for nine queens of the red carpet, and Pescucci has created Oscar-nominated costuming for two films, as well as the recent Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Also on display will be a photographic collection, “The Cinema and Lazio,” presented by the Center for Experiments in Cinematography, which also recently restored masterpieces of Fellini interpreted by Donald Sutherland.

"Federico Fellini’s art is a treasure of world-wide culture and will always attract deep analysis of his artistic talent,” said Shaul Kuba, honorary president of the event, adding that Fellini and his talent represent the Italian genius that seduces the viewer with its combination of classic tradition and innovation. “This is the spirit with which we have launched “Los Angeles, Italy,” said Kuba. “It is a combination of art and entertainment, modern and classic, and image and substance.” Kuba is principal and founder of CIM, which has developed projects in some of the most popular areas of Los Angeles, including Hollywood Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard and Melrose Avenue.

Huge street posters of Rome’s Coliseum are promoting the new Italian festival in the heart of Hollywood. The Oscar® week event also will include honors for Cristina Comencini, director of Don't Tell; composer Dario Marianelli, whose credits include Pride and Prejudice, and Pescucci.
